We welcome students over 18, at all levels of ability and experience - from no previous acting experience to professional - as long as you have enthusiasm and dedication.  You are required to provide a recent photograph of yourself with your name, age and contact details attached or written on the back and an acting CV if you have one and you must pay the course fee deposit of £200 before the first day of the course. We also provide the option of drop-in classes at £10 per week with no deposit.  All students will follow the same syllabus but drop-in students will not be able to take LAMDA exams or receive headshots or showreel footage. Drop-in students will still be able to play small roles in our productions if roles need to be filled. Full-fee-paying students are guaranteed main roles in our productions. You do not need to audition to enrol.

You will study and explore the vital techniques required for becoming an actor, such as:

  • Voice training

  • Devised, prepared and spontaneous improvisation

  • Script work and interpretation of text – classical, modern and complex

  • Stage and set awareness

  • Screen technique

  • Character development and preparation for a role

  • Confidence building

  • Audition technique

  • CV and application writing

  • Stanislavski and Brechtian theory and application

  • Accredited LAMDA monologue performance exams

During the 1-year course you will gain:

  • Feature film roles

  • Cinema screenings and/or DVD copies of the film(s) in which you feature as part of the course

  • Showreel footage

  • Headshots

  • Experience working alongside industry professionals

  • An accredited LAMDA examination qualification

  • A place on our books for future acting work, either with Darkcircles or outside companies.  Should you gain paid work though our agency, Darkcircles will take 10%. We do not mind you joining other agencies.

All of the above is included in the course fee.

The total course fee is £1,400 and is non-refundable.  We accept payments of a £200 deposit before you enrol on the course, in cash, by cheque, or bank transfer, followed by payments of £100 at the start of each following month, for 12 months, by standing order.

If you miss more than 10 classes over the course of the academic year you will not be entered for an exam or receive any showreel footage as you will not have put in enough work. However, you will have the option to attend extra weeks to make up for your absense, at the same cost of £100 per month.
